Super Far Paper Plane Throw Rules

The paper plane contest is open to kids in two age divisions: ages 7-12, and ages 13-17. The adult division is age 18+.

A maximum of 30 contestants in each division will be allowed to compete this year, based on the first registrations received. There is no entry fee. Design and Folding starts at 1:00 pm and competition begins at 1:30 pm.

All planes must be folded at the festival during the designated design/folding session. 8.5” x 11” paper sheets will be provided. Contestants may not use tape, staples, paperclips or other additions to the plane. Any folded design of a single 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper is allowed. Contestants may decorate their planes with pens or pencils.

The competition is a longest distance flight contest. Each contestant will use (1) paper plane and be allowed (1) backup plane. Contestants will have two throws from the designated throwing zone. Running starts are allowed in the launch zone, but if a contestant crosses over the throwing line, that attempt will be disqualified. Any plane thrown out of bounds will be counted as a disqualified throw. Officials will mark and measure both throws and record the longest attempt. The contestant with the longest recorded distance will win the grand prize and trophy. The rulings of the officials are final. Contestants’ likeness may be used in marketing and publicity materials.
